Some of the Phoenix Zoo’s wildest animals come alive in the evening, and you can party with them. Filled with alcoholic beverages food, games, and encounters with majestic wildlife, this adults-only adventure is definitely bucket list-worthy.
Opened in 1962, Phoenix Zoo is the largest privately-owned, nonprofit animal enclosure in the U.S. It boasts more than 1,400 animals, 2.5 miles of walking trails, and special events such as Roars & Pours.
Featuring Western Standard and Ballast Point, this one-of-a-kind event lets adults stroll through select zoo areas while sipping wine and craft beer. There will also be food, animal encounters, games, live music, entertainment, and so much more.
Let your inner child come out to play with oversized yard games such as Connect Four, corn hole, tic-tac-toe, and ring toss. Chicken Poop Bingo is another fun game guests can partake in, the winning of which involves a chicken defecating on your chosen number.
Happy Hour doesn't just apply to drinks! Several different zoo attractions are discounted as well — including the iconic Giraffe Encounter for just $4.
Come face-to-face (or hand-to-fin, rather) with some of the ocean's most ethereal creatures: cownose stingrays. They're housed in a 15,000-gallon pool and majestically glide around while awaiting food from visitors just like you. You'll be out just $2 during Roars & Pours!
Tickets are $10 each and include zoo entrance plus access to games and entertainment. The event is for ages 21+ only, so be sure to bring a valid ID.
Address: 455 North Galvin Parkway, Phoenix, AZ 85008. Zoo hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, but Roars & Pours runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 10.
Visit the zoo's website or Facebook page to learn more.
