With over 30 Arizona state parks, each with its own wonderful aspects and ways to enjoy the outdoors, there's so much to explore! However, some parks offer a bit more than others. One of these parks is located along the Lower Colorado River in Parker, AZ. Spend a day at Buckskin Mountain State Park where you can explore mountains, a river, and the desert all in the same day.
Set in the Parker Strip in La Paz County, Buckskin Mountain State Park is located along the Colorado River between California and Arizona.
It's also sandwiched between the Headgate Rock Dam in AZ and the Parker Dam in CA and offers an array of enjoyable outdoor activities both on land and on the water.
Here at Buckskin, you can take a stroll with views of the Colorado River! Additionally, you'll see California across the water.
Among the water activities you can partake in are fishing, swimming, and boating. You can probably guess that this is a popular park in the summertime!
Both motorized and non-motorized boating is allowed and there are several boat ramps in the park for you to launch your watercraft.
If you prefer to explore the surrounding mountains and desert landscape on foot, there are several trails you can take. For example, take the Lightning Bolt Trail to the Buckskin Loop Trail which will take you through the gorgeous Arizona desert.
This trail system then leads into the mountainous terrain for a rugged trek.
