Arizona has no shortage of breathtaking natural wonders, but one stands out among them all. Havasu Falls, known worldwide for its unparalleled beauty, has been named the most beautiful place in the Grand Canyon State by Condé Nast Traveler. Here's why:
According to Condé Nast Traveler, Havasu Falls is the most beautiful place in all of Arizona -- and honestly, we'd have to agree.
This stunning, blue-green oasis attracts visitors from all over the world, and it's such a coveted attraction that an entire year's worth of the required permits often sells out within minutes.
Obtaining a permit isn't the only challenge you'll face.
Hidden deep within the Havasupai Indian Reservation, the waterfall is only accessible via an intense, 12-mile hike to the parking lot.
There are actually four waterfalls in the area, the first of which is Navajo Falls.
This largely overlooked natural wonder is just half a mile from camp, but it's concealed enough from the main trail that many hikers walk right past without stopping. Enjoy a relaxing float in the large pool, letting the powerful roar of the falls take you to a transcendental place.
Next up is Havasu Falls itself, the most iconic of all the waterfalls.
The 98-foot cascade pours into the turquoise water below, framed by red rock canyon walls and lush greenery.
Mooney and Beaver Falls are the final destinations, the latter of which towers at 200 feet high -- that's taller than even Niagara Falls!
Reaching these two is a bit more difficult, requiring some rock scrambling, so keep that in mind and come prepared.
Some adventurous hikers choose to keep going beyond Beaver Falls, to the confluence of Havasu Creek and the Colorado River.
No matter which leg of the journey you end on, this bucket list-worthy place is undeniably worth a visit.
Day hikes aren't allowed, so you'll need to either bring camp gear or stay in the Havasupai Lodge.
Please note: There are many moving parts to visiting Havasu Falls, so do plenty of research after obtaining your permit and make sure you're aware of all the risks and necessary precautions before your trip date arrives. Tourism is currently suspended due to COVID-19. Head over to the Havasu Falls website to learn more. Click here for the AllTrails page to learn more about the hike.
