Despite having no coastline, Arizona is home to some pretty breathtaking bodies of water. From lakes with sandy beaches to rivers where you can have an epic tubing adventure, the Grand Canyon State has no shortage of opportunities to splash the day away. One such place is Buckskin Mountain State Park, an oasis just before the California state line with water so clear, you won't believe you're in Arizona.
Nestled on the Colorado River between the Parker and Headgate Dams, Buckskin Mountain State Park is a scenic waterfront destination near the Arizona-California border.
With a sandy beach, campground, picnic area, hiking trails, and abundant wildlife and vegetation, this gem on the Parker Strip offers year-round adventure.
The water is so clear, you'll have a hard time believing you're still in Arizona.
360-degree mountain views are visible far as the eye can see in every direction, rendering the park a picture-perfect paradise with all sorts of fun ways to enjoy the great outdoors.
Recreational opportunities abound, including boating, swimming, and fishing.
All types of watercraft can be launched from the two-lane boat ramp, and the river boasts substantial populations of bass, catfish, and panfish. For swimming, a designated area near the day-use section of the park keeps the water calm and peaceful, with no threat of wakes from passing boats.
Five scenic hiking trails lead eastward into the mountains, showcasing everything from abandoned mines to native flora and fauna.
The trails range from quick strolls around the park to challenging backcountry treks, so there's something for all skill levels.
Taking you high above the river, the trails provide breathtaking aerial views of not only the deep blue water, but the entire park and the towering peaks that surround it, as well.
You'll feel on top of the world from up here!
Both RV and tent camping are available, with a total of 80 sites.
All campers are guaranteed unparalleled views of the river, and several sites are located right along the waterfront. Amenities include water and 30-amp electric, as well as BBQ grills and picnic tables. Nightly rates range from $35 to $45 per night, and reservations can be made online in advance of your stay.
Address: 5476 AZ-95, Parker, AZ 85344.
The park is open 24 hours per day, seven days a week, and the entrance fee $10 per vehicle (1-4 adults) and $3 for those entering on foot or bicycle.
