If you want to plan a quick day trip into Arizona’s forests, then a trip to the Mogollon Rim should be one of the main places you choose to visit. There are plenty of fun things to do here, but hiking is a favorite that costs practically nothing. Some of the most scenic hiking trails in Arizona are here, like this one:
Hidden away on the Mogollon Rim are a series of hiking trails that will take you to some incredibly beautiful areas of the state. If you’re looking for a relatively short one, then Kinder Crossing Trail #19 is perfect.
The trail is a pretty short one, though still a good workout. It measures 2.5 miles overall, which includes heading down Yeager Canyon to East Clear Creek, back up the canyon to another Forest Road. You can shorten the hike (and number of treks up and down the canyon) by turning around after you reach the creek.
From the trailhead to the creek is just 0.75 miles, so this would be perfect if you only have a couple hours to spare.
The trail itself would be considered moderately difficult. Parts of it can be steep, rocky, and narrow, so take care to hike carefully down the path.
This will be a good leg workout!
This area is picturesque—it’s located a mile or so north of Blue Ridge Reservoir—with towering pines, a meadow, a rocky landscape, and hints of wildlife nearby.
When you make it down the canyon and to East Clear Creek, you’ll be in for quite the treat!
The creek will be burbling and just the right temperature for cooling off after that steep trek down the canyon. Plus, it's a great little spot for a quiet morning of fishing or catching crawdads.
It will be quiet here and, if you’re lucky, you and your hiking companions may be the only ones there! Enjoy that cool air, the sounds of nature, and the beautiful views.
What’s another trail you love that you don’t mind sharing with your fellow Arizonans?
