If you're visiting one of Alaska's most beautiful waterfront towns, make sure to amble along Seward Waterfront Shore Path in downtown Seward, Alaska. This great little paved waterfront trail in Alaska curves along Seward's waterfront, giving you a front-row view of Prince William Sound and the surrounding mountains. If you're in Seward and looking for a fabulous morning or afternoon walk, there's a very accessible trail along the waterfront.

This trail follows along the coastline through downtown Seward all the way to the harbor. The surface is paved and perfect for all ages and ability levels.

The trail starts and ends at Founder's Monument, a statue that honors John Ballaine, Seward's founder.

It's also Mile 0 of the historic Iditarod Trail and a fascinating piece of history. You can read more about it on the plaque nearby!

If you want to sit a moment, these benches are very comfortable and give you the perfect view.

I loved spending a moment or two with a cup of coffee and the water lapping quietly in front of me.

In addition to the gorgeous beach, ocean, and mountain views you'll be entranced with, there is a plethora of wildlife in front of you!

The most impressive are the whales. Keep your eyes peeled for large groups of birds on the water and circling in the air. Large schools of small fish are usually nearby, and you will frequently see whales come up from the depths to eat!

Or take in the mountains across Resurrection Bay.

There are stunning views pretty much everywhere you look.

As you walk down the path, you may also see porpoises, sea otters, and bald eagles.

There are also countless sea birds, and sometimes even harbor seas or sea lions on display! The whole area is teeming with Alaska's fascinating marine life.

The entire trail is a 1.9-mile out-and-back walk.

The path is very busy during the summer, but it can be a lovely, secluded outing during the winter. Sometimes the benches along the path may be a little icy, but still worth the sit.

Many people turn around at the boat harbor, but you can continue on if you wish, or explore the docks with their beautiful boats.

In and among the boats you will usually find jellyfish, sea otters, and other fun wildlife. If you're interested in seeing marine animals, it might be worth heading down the docks.

This is the perfect stroll for any season and any time of day. You would be more likely to see whales nearby during high tide, however!

There's free parking by the Founder's Monument, and you can also visit all the great shops downtown when you're finished with this beautiful walk. Don't forget to duck into one of the beautiful waterfront restaurants if you get hungry!
