Pioneer Park is located in the center of Fairbanks, an interior town that is a perfect winter wonderland. A lovely blanket of snow covers the pioneer cabins, most constructed 100 years ago. The old timey town is dressed up for the dark winter nights with colorful lights. A wonderful place to take a stroll with someone special or bring the whole family to see this enchanting park at Christmas time.
Pioneer Park was built in 1967 and called "A-67" at the time of construction. Many of the remaining cabins from the early days of the town were relocated here.
The charm of historic Fairbanks is alive and well in the park, a celebration of Alaska and the pioneers who founded the town from the wilderness.
The park is beautiful with a fresh coat of snow, right along the picturesque Chena River in the heart of downtown Fairbanks.
Even though it is quite centrally located, wildlife occasionally wander through the park including arctic fox, moose, squirrels and ravens are all around.
Pioneer Park really shines in the winter when the antique log cabins and houses are decorated for the holidays. You can read the historical plaques with information about the history of each one.
Pioneer Town looks pretty as a picture a Christmas time. Visit any time throughout the evenings to enjoy the peaceful scene.
Take a stroll in the crisp winter air as you take in the twinkling colors and the sturdy, classic Alaskan log cabins of the past.
The Gazebo is a vision, and a popular spot for gatherings and performances year-round.
The S.S. Nenana is a classic sternwheeler that lives in Pioneer Park. At Christmas time, the ship is all dressed up for the holidays in lights.
