It's no secret that Alabama is one of America's top hiking destinations. There are several hiking trails located throughout the state, and one of the most popular ones is the Walls of Jericho Trail. For information about this trail, including what's hiding at the end, take a look below.
Alabama's Walls of Jericho, which covers approximately 12,500 acres, is located in Jackson County and is best known as the "Grand Canyon of the South." As legend has it, Davy Crockett explored this area in the 1700s.
The Walls of Jericho Trail is a 9-mile out and back trail with a difficult rating. Because it's a difficult trail to navigate, it's not suitable for amateur hikers.

While hiking this North Alabama trail, you'll encounter several unique features, including log foot bridges.
You'll also be surrounded by lots of beautiful natural scenery, so don't forget to bring along your camera.
Prior to reaching the Walls of Jericho, you'll cross two creeks: Hurricane Creek and Turkey Creek (pictured). You'll follow Turkey Creek to reach your destination.
The "Walls" are made from limestone and resemble a large bowl shaped amphitheater. Its main feature is a beautiful hidden waterfall.
