One of the many reasons why our trails are so attractive is because of the number of natural wonders that are featured on them, including waterfalls. Monte Sano State Park, which covers 2,140 acres, is located atop of Monte Sano Mountain in Huntsville, Alabama.
It's home to several incredible hiking trails, including the North Plateau Loop.
Monte Sano State Park's North Plateau Loop is a 2-mile loop trail with an easy rating of difficulty, meaning anyone should be able to hike it.

This short and scenic trail is open all year long, and it's the perfect destination for an afternoon stroll. If you have a dog, be sure to bring it along. Dogs are allowed on this trail.
While hiking the North Plateau Loop, you'll discover a variety of natural wonders, including several waterfalls.
In fact, you'll stumble upon more waterfalls than the trail's actual number of miles.
Monte Sano State Park's North Plateau Loop is also located on the North Alabama Birding Trail, so you can expect to see many types of birds during your hike, especially this time of year.
And finally, because this trail is located atop of Monte Sano Mountain, you'll also get to experience some of Alabama's most incredible views.
