When it comes to city parks, Alabama doesn't disappoint! Several city parks are located throughout the Yellowhammer State that are most certainly worth a visit. One city park, in particular, is Delano Park, which you can read all about below.
Delano Park, which covers nearly 30 acres, is located in historic Decatur, Alabama. It's considered one of the state's most beautiful city parks.
Founded in 1887, this city park is also one of Alabama's oldest. Ever since the day Delano Park first opened, many generations have enjoyed everything it has to offer.
After arriving at Delano Park, you'll encounter a variety of whimsical animal sculptures, including Mr. Bullfrog, Dragonfly, Swamp Rabbit, and more. You'll think you're in a fairytale.
Informative plaques are also on display that tell about each of these animals.
Delano Park, which was dedicated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1941 to honor his mother, features a lot of lush greenery and clusters of beautiful flowers. In fact, the park's Historic Rose Garden is its signature spot.
One of Delano Park's main features is its stone bridge, which has become a popular photography spot over the years.
If you have any little ones at home, you'll most certainly want to bring them to Delano Park so they can experience its Riverwild Playground and...
...Riverwild Splashpad. Both of these attractions are perfect for children of all ages. Keep in mind, the splashpad doesn't open until Memorial Day.
