There are many places in Alabama that are great for visiting during the wintertime. One place in particular is Cheaha State Park. For information about why Cheaha Mountain weather is best in the winter, take a look below.
Cheaha State Park, which was established in 1933, is located atop Cheaha Mountain in the tiny town of Delta. With an elevation of 2,407 feet above sea level, it's Alabama's highest natural point.
This beautiful state park is open year-round, but during the winter season, it's extra special. If it happens to snow this upcoming winter at Cheaha State Park, you're sure to encounter several boulders draped with icicles and...
...plenty of plants covered in ice. It'll truly be a winter wonderland.
Cheaha State Park, also the oldest park in Alabama, offers a variety of activities to do during the winter season, including camping. If you're wanting to take a getaway this upcoming winter, Cheaha State Park offers cabins, chalets, and cozy rooms at their lodge to make your stay relaxing and unforgettable.
Hiking is another fun activity at Cheaha State Park during the winter season. There are several trails located throughout the park, including the Doug Ghee Accessible Trail, which is best known as the Bald Rock Boardwalk.
The Doug Ghee Accessible Trail is only 0.6 miles out and back, which makes it one of Alabama's shortest and easiest hikes. It's also a great trail for individuals of all abilities.
The overlook at the end of the trail makes the visit to Cheaha State Park well worth it. From here, you'll be able to see for miles and miles, and the view is truly spectacular!
