The Dothan Area Botanical Gardens was established in 1991 and is located in Dothan, Alabama.
Covering 50 acres, it's one of Alabama's most beautiful gardens. It's also the perfect spot for an afternoon stroll.
One of the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens' most popular features is its Wings of Wonder, which is a seasonal butterfly house that opened August 6, 2022. This butterfly house is an enclosed space that's 1800 square feet in size.
There are approximately 600 native butterflies inside this enclosed space. Some of them you might even see before they become butterflies, and...
...some of them you might be lucky enough to watch as they become butterflies.
There are many types of butterflies you'll see during your Wings of Wonder visit, including the monarch butterfly. In addition to it being one of North America's most beautiful butterflies, the monarch butterfly is also Alabama's state insect.
