Do you have a favorite waterfront town in Montana? From the historic little riverside city of Fort Benton to our more well-known tourist destinations like Seeley Lake, you've got quite a few to choose from. But we happen to think that Bigfork is an underrated gem worth exploring.
Bigfork is located in the beautiful Flathead County, sitting at the north end of Flathead Lake.
Flathead Lake is only the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi... not a bad thing to have in your backyard.
Bigfork just happens to be located in a part of the state that's absolutely gorgeous in any season.
If you live near the Flathead, you know exactly what we mean.
Bigfork may be a small town, but there always seems to be something fun happening.
They have several seasonal festivals and events that are worth checking out, like the Bigfork Festival of the Arts and the Bigfork Brewfest.
Bigfork's latest venture is the Village Market, held every Monday during the summer months.
The market kicks off with free yoga, then follows with three hours of live music, local vendors, and delicious food truck fare.
Bigfork is delightful in the summer, of course...
... but in the winter, it turns into an amazing Christmas village.
Volunteers and the team at the Chamber of Commerce decorate the entire town, and it's beautiful.
There's no doubt about it, the Montanans who get to call Bigfork home are lucky.
The community is special, and the locals have a strong sense of pride.
Bigfork has something for everyone: hiking trails, water sports, shopping, farmers markets, and some fantastic waterfront dining.
Depending on the time of year, you can see outdoor live music or catch a show at The Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts.
One of Bigfork's other positive qualities is the fact that it isn't far from Glacier National Park, Montana's crown jewel.
