1. Whitefish Lake State Park
Located on the outskirts of Whitefish, this pleasant park has a mature forest and a beautiful beach. The campsite s here are quiet and relaxing, and they're also so popular that you can reserve them 9 months in advance.
2. Beavertail Hill State Park
You'll find Beavertail Hill State Park 26 miles east of Missoula in Clinton, and it's as relaxing as it gets. Rent one of the 27 campsites or camp in one of the 2 tipis.
3. Salmon Lake State Park
Seeley Lake is one of Western Montanans' favorite vacation destinations, and campers love to park at the nearby Salmon Lake State Park. It has 33 campsites in shaded wooded areas perfect for relaxing.
4. Flathead Lake State Park - West Shore
Camping, hiking and swimming in the lake amongst the ponderosa pines. What could be better?
5. Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park
The most famous part of this park is obviously the massive cavern, but there's plenty to see above the surface here as well. The campground at the park is open year round, with 35 sites available.
6. Placid Lake State Park
Located in the beautiful Swan River Valley, this popular campground features plenty of waterside spots.

7. Lake Mary Ronan State Park
Early fall just might be the best time to stay at the quiet campground at Lake Mary Ronan State Park . It sits off the beaten path about 7 miles from Flathead Lake, with a dock for fishing and scenic hiking trails.
