For a moment, you may have been sad about this year's travel restrictions... but then you promptly remembered that Montana is the best possible place to be "quarantined," especially in the summer. Between our pristine lakes, coveted state and national parks, and our ever-expanding craft beer scene, the Treasure State is the perfect place to spend a summer. And if you're a big fan of our local beer, you'll definitely want to spend some time on the patio of Kalispell Brewing Company this season.
The Kalispell Brewing Company is Kalispell's first independent craft brewery.
The company was founded in 2012 by a husband and wife team who spent two years converting the former Hendricksen Motors building on Main Street into their brewery and taproom.
The Flathead Valley is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise -- from the hiking trails to the whitewater rivers to landmarks like Glacier National Park, the great outdoors seem especially great in this part of Montana.
And since an ice-cold beer tastes exceptionally delicious after a long day of exploring, this brewery is in a perfect location.
The brewing process here is fairly simple, but it's all done with great care and intention, which is one of the things that makes every brew so fantastic.
Their flagship beers have already won numerous awards.
There are three flagship beers sold here, along with some seasonal specials, rotating favorites, and the occasional experiment.
And the tasting room happens to be a wonderful gathering spot for friends to come together and sample them.
If you prefer to be outdoors this summer, just have a seat on the rooftop patio.
This space, which is both kid and dog friendly, has a top-notch view of the Swan Mountains.
While the taproom doesn't have a kitchen, the resident food truck, Handle Brews, will keep you well-fed five days a week.
Handle Brews serves handcrafted burgers and sandwiches on homemade flatbread, plus an array of tasty specials. Kalispell Brewing also serves non-alcoholic beverages and small snacks, so every taste (and age group) will be accounted for.
You've got to love a brewery with a book club, and this place has the awesome Books and Brews Club.
You can also catch live music on the rooftop patio on Sunday afternoons.
Kalispell Brewing Company is open daily from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., except on Sundays, when they close at 6 p.m.
Sip a handcrafted brew over a sandwich in the sunshine this summer and you'll see why this place is so popular.
