Now that the holiday season is officially behind us and we've (mostly) recovered from the madness, it's time to focus on an important list for 2020: our restaurant list, of course. While it's impossible to eat your way through the entire state of Montana, it doesn't hurt to try.

This is by no means a complete list of restaurants you should try this year, nor is it supposed to be the best of the best, necessarily. These are simply great spots (young and old) that serve fantastic food, and you should make it a point to patronize them if you can.

1. Horn & Cantle (Big Sky)

Located in a cozy cabin-like structure in Big Sky, Horn & Cantle serves incredibly tasty food in a rustic-chic setting. The menu consists of Montana-raised beef, locally grown veggies, crispy skin Montana trout, and more. The breakfast and lunch options are equally as appetizing.

2. The Burger Dive (Billings)

The Burger Dive isn't new to Billings, but you'll still sometimes see lines out the door there. That's not because of marketing gimmicks, or even because they've been named one of the best burger joints in the country. It's because the food really is just plain good.

3. Nova Cafe (Bozeman)

No one will argue that Bozeman has some of the best restaurants in the state, and deciding on a brunch spot can be particularly challenging. However, there's something about the friendly service, colorful interiors, piping hot coffee, and irresistible selection of scrambles, Benedicts, waffles, and other treats that make this place a top pick every time.

4. Lolo Creek Steakhouse (Lol)

For a classic, hearty, meat and potatoes meal, you can't go wrong with Lolo Creek Steakhouse. Not only is it a local favorite, it's a great place to bring your relatives from out of state who crave an authentic Montana dining experience.

5. La Fiesta Mexicana Taco Bus (Dillon)

It's not every day you see a taco bus, especially in Montana. But if you see this one, hit the breaks, because the tacos are out of this world.

6. Eugene's Pizza (Glasgow)

We have to give Eugene’s a mention on a list like this. The pizza is so good that people from all over the country have it shipped to them -- so if you happen to be near Glasgow, you owe it to yourself to see if it's worth the hype (we believe it is).

7. Biga Pizza (Missoula)

Speaking of pizza.. Biga Pizza has been a beloved part of the Missoula community for almost 15 years. It's not every day you find a pizzeria that is both traditional and innovative, creating combinations you won't find anywhere else. Plus, everything is made from scratch with local ingredients.

8. Stacey's Old Faithful Bar and Steakhouse (Gallatin Gateway)

Many a Montanan doesn't even know Stacey’s Old Faithful exists, and that's a shame. This underrated steakhouse is full of character (and the dinners are incredible).

9. La Casa Toscana (Butte)

If you've ever been to Italy, you know that food is cooked slowly and savored slowly, allowing you to truly enjoy it. And if you haven't been to Italy (or you can't return anytime soon), enjoying a meal at La Casa Toscana just might be the next best thing. The house made pasta and fresh seafood will win you over.

10. The Buffalo Cafe (Whitefish)

The Buffalo Cafe is a beloved family run eatery in Whitefish. But don't expect an average meal if you visit -- whether you're there for a breakfast Benedict, lunchtime burger, or dinner entree, you'll be blown away by the quality of the food.
