While we all have those winter days where we just want to curl up on the couch under a blanket, most of us also enjoy getting outside, breathing in the crisp air, and having fun. (Until our toe-sies get too cold) Winter certainly boasts an abundance of unique activities, from sledding to snowshoeing, or even outdoor ice skating in Missouri. That's why you should carve out an evening (or an afternoon) for ice skating at Summit Ice Rink in Missouri.
Bundle up for an evening outdoors at Summit Ice in Lee's Summit, a popular winter destination that will welcome ice skaters through the end of February.
Illuminated by twinkling lights in the evening, the charming ice rink measures 8,000 square feet, allowing for plenty of skaters and for social distancing.
Public ice skating sessions are generally available during the daytime and in the evening, weather permitting. Your best bet is to purchase tickets online before you head to the rink.
Bring your own skates along or rent a pair right at the rink. Skate rentals are just $3 per person.
Each skating session lasts one hour and 50 minutes, which gives you plenty of time to glide around the ice and to...
.. warm up, and maybe even roast marshmallows, over one of the roaring fire pits. The ice rink is also home to a concession stand.
If you're new to ice skating, you can sign up for one of the learn to skate classes. Classes are available according to age group, including kiddos between three and six, children from seven to 12, and skaters 13 and older.
