The Jesse James Festival in Missouri celebrates a renowned outlaw of whom we've all heard. He has reached legendary status in America, with some calling him a modern-day Robin Hood. Legend says he robbed the rich and gave to the poor, particularly in Missouri. The annual celebration in Kearney remembers that time through five days of fun for the whole family. Let's check out one of the best festivals in Missouri.
The 53rd Jesse James Festival returns to Kearney on Sept. 13-14, and Sept. 20-22, 2024 at Jesse James Park.
The five-day festival features a jam-packed schedule of activities and events for kids and adults of all ages.
Children can take a Mutton Busting Ride on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Rodeo Arena. For contestant information, contact: Regan McKellips of the C.R. McKellips Rodeo Company at 417-876-2353.
On Saturday, Sept. 14, enjoy the demolition derby & power wheels at one of the best Missouri festivals.
Plan to visit both weekends of the festival for an old-fashioned carnival.
If you plan to get on a lot of rides, purchase one of the armbands for $25. Otherwise, rides cost $4 each.
The Little Mr. & Miss competition will also take place for kiddos between ages one and seven. Contestants will be divided into age groups for this contest.
Other events include the 36th Annual Jesse James Barbecue Cookout Competition, a fishing tournament, co-ed mud volleyball, and a disc golf tournament.
The fantastic parade takes place on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, with an entry deadline of Aug. 31.
Enter to win some prizes in the categories of Floats, Non-Motorized, Motorized, Equestrian, and Crowd Pleaser. We enjoy seeing the hometown love and creativity passing by.
Make sure you bring a hearty appetite with you, too, as there will be a generous selection of food vendors on hand.
