Tune your radio to 106.9 K-KLAUS as you wind your way through the Let There Be Lights Drive-Thru Light Show in Branson. The two-mile lights display boasts countless shimmering Christmas lights. It also bills itself as the largest drive-thru Christmas lights display in the Ozarks. If you're still in the mood for some Christmas fun after your drive, opt for Santa's VIP Safari Tram Tour that will take you on a tour of Promised Land Zoo, which includes the chance to feed some of the animals. Drive through the spectacular Enchanted Village of Lights in Laurie. The mid-Missouri lights display has set a goal of becoming the area's largest drive-thru Christmas lights display. Admission is free. However, donations are accepted. Go here for more information and to plan your visit.
Stay toasty in your car as you wind your way through the one-mile Celebration of Lights at Fort Zumwalt Park. If you'd prefer someone else do the driving, make a reservation to see the sensational lights display on the train or on a horse-drawn carriage. Drink in the shimmering beauty of more than 300,000 Christmas lights as you slowly drive through Christmas in the Park in Lees Summit. Longview Lake Park, in fact, transforms into a winter wonderland with more than 175 lit Christmas displays. Check out the event's website for more information.
Slowly wind your way through the one-mile Joy of Lights, which boasts shimmering lights displays on both sides of the road. However, that's just the beginning of your holiday fun. Wrap yourself in the warmth of the holiday season with a stroll down Main Street in historic St. Charles, and see for yourself why it's one of the most festive towns in MO. Main Street, and the town itself, transform into a magical winter wonderland for the annual St. Charles Christmas Traditions Festival, which celebrates its 50th year in 2024. This year's event runs on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from Nov. 29 to Dec. 24, 2024. Christmas Traditions will feature "A Christmas Carol Stroll" from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 11, and 18, 2024.
St. Charles Christmas Traditions features a variety of free events, including the The Tree Lighting Ceremony at Berthold Square. The first ceremony of the season will be held on Friday, Nov. 29, 2024, at 5 p.m. and on Saturdays, throughout the festival, at 5 p.m. Enjoy the festive Santa Parade, which ends with the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, every Saturday and Sunday at 12 p.m.
Kiddos can meet Santa at the Katy Depot in Frontier Park at select times throughout the festival, too. Share Christmas wishes; snap photos, and tour Santa's Cottage. Santa's final visit is set for Christmas Eve from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A full menu of family-friendly fun awaits during Christmas Traditions. Grab some hot roasted chestnuts before strolling through town, where you can visit the Holiday Food Hall of Fame at the Old Post Office Plaza, catch a reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas (select times) at the Historic First State Capitol, and browse Covent Garden, a Victorian Marketplace. Marvel at the entries for the gingerbread village contest at Main Street Church, too.
Carve out some time during your visit for a bit of Christmas shopping and a bite to eat. Old Millstream Inn, 1818 Bistro, and Tony's on Main Street are just a few of your many choices. If you're driving to town, you can park in one of several lots, including the City Hall Parking Garage, which offers free public parking on the weekends. You might also able to snag a parking spot on North Main Street between Jefferson Street and Clark Street.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L.
