Playing with toys may be for kids, but admiring them is a completely grown up activity. (Seems reasonable, right?) Luckily, the Magnolia State is home to a museum where you can do just that. Filled with antique dolls and toys, a visit to the museum is bound to take you back to your childhood. Take a look:
This is Yesterday’s Children. It’s located in downtown Vicksburg on Washington Street.
The Coca Cola museum is situated just across the street, so consider visiting both museums on the same day.
The "antique doll and toy museum" is a great visit for all ages – rain or shine.
Home to a variety of dolls and toys from the 19th and 20th centuries, it’s no surprise the museum has been featured in several publications, including Southern Living.
The impressive collection includes over 1,000 dolls - some of which date back to 1843!
Shirley Temple dolls, Barbie dolls, Chatty Cathy, and Betsy-Wetsy are just a few of the classics you’ll find at the museum.
You’ll also find a few not-so-familiar faces. Be sure to check out the attached signage to learn all about the dolls and their interesting pasts.
Though a bit smaller than the doll collection, the toy collection is just as wonderful and includes things like, vintage Tonka trucks and Teddy bears.
