When searching for a great place to eat, a country fish house is a welcomed sight. Synonymous with great food and casual digs, there’s no better place to satisfy your craving for a homemade meal in a setting to match. And while fish houses aren’t as common as they once were, we’ve still got plenty here in the Magnolia State - and one you don’t want to miss is The Country Fisherman. Take a look:
The Country Fisherman first opened its doors in Jackson in 1988. Since then, two other locations have opened – one in Byram and one in Pearl.
A must-visit destination for those craving country cooking, The Country Fisherman specializes in Southern cuisine, including Mississippi-raised catfish, which is caught daily.
Though the same home-style fare can be found at all three restaurants, it’s the Jackson locale that boasts an old-fashioned fish house vibe – complete with plank paneling, trophy mounts, and tons of rustic features.
Now, back to the home-style fare. It’s served via buffet, and in addition to fried catfish, includes fried chicken, greens, fried okra, cornbread, and lots more.
On Friday and Saturday nights, the eatery offers a seafood buffet. Basically a seafood smorgasbord, it includes crab legs, oysters, shrimp, catfish, frog legs, and more.
A salad bar, which is just as stocked, is also part of the all-you-can-eat fare.
Oh, and did we mention there’s a dessert bar?
And just like everything else, the desserts are made by hand, on site.
