Now that it is August, summertime in Minnesota is starting its slow fade into autumn. But that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of opportunities to take in what remains of the sunshine and warmth. One great place to do this is at a little-known place called Sunflower Ranch. It's in Big Lake, Minnesota, and it has welcomed visitors to its annual Sunflower Fest since 2018. This year, the sunflower celebration continues in mid-August, when the field opens to visitors once again. Read on below to learn the details of visiting this gorgeous sunflower field in 2020:
Sunflower Ranch is a 1-acre sunflower farm in Big Lake, Minnesota. It's about 40 miles northwest of Minneapolis, making it a great day trip destination for many Minnesotans.
Since 2018, the owners of the field have held an annual event called Sunflower Fest. This free event allows visitors to freely roam the field. It has become a popular spot for photographers and people seeking family photos.
In fact, the owners make it easy for you to get great shots. There are props positioned around the field, from wagon wheels to old-fashioned pickup trucks. These make a wonderful, country-style backdrop for your latest set of family photos.
The 2020 sunflower season begins in August. The sunflower field will be in full bloom around the second week of August. Visitors are welcome from sunup to sundown.
If you're looking for a beautiful excursion to close out the summer — and maybe get some great photos — look no further than Sunflower Ranch. Visits to this beautiful 1-acre sunflower field are quickly becoming a summertime tradition.
