The Land of 10,000 Lakes has no shortage of great places to swim. There's at least one lake in nearly every county in the state, and just about everyone lives an easy distance to a great spot for fishing, boating, and swimming. But that doesn't mean Minnesota's pools and swimming holes aren't awesome spots to swim. In fact, we know that many people prefer these places. That's why today, we'd like to feature a man-made swimming hole that's just the thing for those looking for a fun, fish-free place to cool down. Head to the Hokah Pool in Hokah, Minnesota, to enjoy a spring-fed pool with a sandy bottom. Read on below to learn more about this great spot:
The Hokah Pool is a little-known man-made swimming hole in Hokah, Minnesota. This tiny community is about 160 miles southwest of Minneapolis, near the Wisconsin and Iowa borders.
At first glance, this is just like any other small-town swimming hole. But there are a few things about the Hokah Pool that make it impressive.
First, the pool is nestled into the rolling hills of southern Minnesota. With the Root River nearby and plenty of tree-lined hills surrounding the pool, it's a picturesque spot to while away an afternoon.
Second, despite being a man-made pool, Hokah Pool is spring-fed. The water comes from a nearby spring. It's chemical-free but with clean water like a lake.
Hokah Pool also has a sand bottom! A visit here truly feels like a day at the lake. There's even a sandy beach where you can spread out a towel and relax in the sun.
At the lake, there's plenty of opportunity for fun. An inflatable in the pool is great for climbing, and many bring balls and other pool toys to enjoy. The pool has a lifeguard, so you can rest assured about safety, too.
All in all, this man made swimming hole is unique among Minnesota pools. It's a great place to go on a summer day. You'll feel like a kid again!
