Elm Creek Park Reserve is an enormous section of land in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Larger than some state parks, it covers an expanse of 4,900 acres.
The park's size means there is a lot to do there. Several picnic areas — including some sheltered areas — provide excellent spots for picnics and family reunions in the warmer months.
Warm weather also means the park becomes a hotspot of swimming activity. The swimming pond is filtered and chlorinated, making it a safe, clean place to catch some rays and cool off on a summer day.
Kids love the play areas at the park. There are plenty of tubes to crawl through, slides to zoom down, and swings to go high on. The playgrounds are a child's paradise!
The park is also riddled with trails! For mountain bikers, 12.7 miles of trails await for beginner and advanced riders. There are also 20 miles of paved trails for cyclists who prefer a gentler ride.
The trails aren't just for bikes! There are 50 miles of trails total, so there's always something new to explore on foot. Each season brings something different, from wildflowers to vibrant leaves.
Winter snow stops traffic in most parks, but Elm Creek stays busy! The 7 miles of snowshoeing trails are popular with birdwatchers and cross-country skiing is also common.
The sledding hills are another winter favorite! People of all ages love speeding down the groomed sledding hill.
All in all, this enormous park is full of activity for people with just about any outdoor interests. Visit every season of the year for a great time! Have you been to Elm Creek Park Reserve? What's your favorite thing to do there? Let us know in the comments!
