In the Land of 10,000 Lakes, we have a lot of beaches to choose from. Beautiful rocky shores and luxurious sandy dunes alike await Minnesota lake-goers every summer. Each type offers its own beauty, but there is one beach in particular that is truly unique. Iona's Beach on is a North Shore beauty with a special surprise when the waters wash its rocks.
The beach is located on the North Shore - but it's a little hard to find.
There are dozens of these areas across Minnesota. They achieve this designation by being ecologically or geologically significant to Minnesota. At Iona's Beach, a sign explaining the significance of the beach is on display.
The most obvious sign that Iona's Beach is truly unique is its pink color.
This makes for an interesting - and truly unique - place to take a walk along the shore. Better yet, the beach is not as well known as other spots along the North Shore. It is usually not too busy
The lake is quite clear in this area, making it easy to see the millions of rocks that make up the beach.
But that still isn't the most amazing thing about Iona's Beach...

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. We may be well-known for our snowy winters here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, but come summertime, Minnesota sure can heat up fast. Of course, we always look forward to the summer sun after our long and treacherous winters, but sometimes it can be difficult to deal with the heat and humidity. But it doesn't have to be. Thanks to our many lakes, rivers, and swimming holes, it's quite easy to cool down on a sticky Minnesota summer day. Getting four to six hours on the river for the cost of one ride sounds pretty fantastic to us.
K & K offers visitors such a great value. There's a shuttle service that will drop you off and pick you up again right at the river, so you don't have to worry about arranging transportation for your float trip.
There are plenty of tubes available for rent. They're complete with handles and a cup holder, so you've got everything you need for a comfortable, cooling day of river floating.
Note that glass bottles and styrofoam coolers are not allowed on the river, so make sure to not bring any.

You'll even find kid-sized tubes for the younger visitors. They're equipped with a backrest and ensure that smaller visitors stay safe and comfortable.
