Do you find yourself longing for an outdoor escape? From beachfront strolls to overnight camping outings, there’s nothing better than appreciating Michigan’s seemingly endless natural beauty. If you’re keen on hiking, you’ve got plenty of trails to select from - but one spot deserves an elevated place on your list of must-hike locales. Get ready to enter a whimsical natural wonderland.
Ringwood Forest is located at 13710 Ring Rd in St. Charles.
Whether you’re a full-blown nature fanatic or more of a casual adventurer, you’ll undoubtedly love this spot. There’s something here to impress every member of the family.
The forest itself consists of 160 acres and a variety of hiking options for every athletic level. While the trail system totals three miles, Witch Hazel Trail is the longest individual loop.
If you follow the full Witch Hazel pathway, you’ll enjoy 1.8 miles of forested beauty, hilly terrain, and plenty of flora and fauna. There’s always something new to see along the way.
For those who want to immerse themselves in a unique woodland section, Ringwood Forest’s Historic Spruce Alley fits the bill, offering .4 miles of towering spruce trees.
Other options include the Lumberjack Loop, the Muskrat Flats Trail, and the Pine Promenade. If it were up to us, though, visitors would make sure to check out every inch of hiking space.
During your visit to Ringwood Forest, you’ll also find a pavilion area, playground, and unbeatable access to the scenic Bad River. There’s no better place for a family day trip.
