Fourth of July may have come and gone, but that doesn't mean the festivities are over. In a state like Michigan, there are so many summer festivals to enjoy that it's nearly overwhelming (in the best way, of course). For a true taste of this Michigan's enthusiasm for the summer, you'll want to head to the National Cherry Festival. This famous cherry festival started on July 1st, but it's not too late to take part in this magical annual tradition:
The National Cherry Festival is a massive celebration of cherries, history and community that takes place annually in Traverse City, the cherry capital of the world.
Since 1926, the festival has attracted cherry-lovers from all over the world. Today, this Michigan town welcomes nearly half a million festival-goers.
This year's festival began on July 1st and will run through July 8th. If you've yet to experience the family fun, it's not too late!
The festival is filled with all sorts of incredible traditions, most of which revolve around this delicious summertime fruit.
Amidst traditional parades and races, there's an air show that's absolutely breathtaking to observe.
Each year on the opening night of the festival, the Indigo View Air Show features U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds in an incredible display.
Of course, no summer festival would be complete without a ferris wheel, nostalgic carnival rides, live music, and plenty of snacks.
As you soar high above the festival on the ferris wheel, be sure to enjoy the exquisite view of Grand Traverse Bay.
If you're lucky, you may even spot the Cherry Festival's own mascot for a great photo op!
Whether you're attending as a first-time visitor or enjoying the festival as part of an annual tradition, you're visit to the National Cherry Festival this year will be one for the books!
