If you’re a tried and true Michigander, you’ve likely visited the annual butterfly exhibition at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. After all, nothing says spring like immersing yourself in a whimsical greenhouse full of vibrant butterflies. If you’ve been looking forward to this year’s event, you’re in luck: Meijer Gardens has set up a live stream so you can admire butterflies from the comfort of your own home.
Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park sits at 1000 E Beltline NE in Grand Rapids.
This 158-acre wonderland has long delighted visitors of all ages and backgrounds. There’s so much to see, from unique art displays to breathtaking botanical gardens.
Throughout the years, Meijer Gardens has earned accolades for its stunning Butterflies Are Blooming exhibition, which typically draws in crowds during March and April.
The exhibition is nothing short of magical, featuring approximately 7,000 free-roaming tropical butterflies from 60 different species. Many Michiganders attend each year.
In fact, the Butterflies Are Blooming event is the largest temporary tropical butterfly exhibition in the United States. It’s easy to see why it has become an annual outing.
Unfortunately, Meijer Gardens is temporarily closed to the public as we navigate uncertain times. But that doesn’t mean you should forget about Butterflies Are Blooming.
Via its Facebook page, the gardens offer butterfly live streams via which viewers can virtually visit their favorite annual exhibition. Talk about a peaceful escape.
