When I was a kid, one of my favorite parts of summer was taking a trip to the local berry patch with my family. No matter which berries we were picking, getting the chance to pick my own berries to turn into future desserts became a highlight of my summer break each year. Blueberry season was always my favorite, because of the future cobbler, of course. I have so many happy memories of coming home from blueberry picking, my belly full and mouth ringed purple from all the berries I taste tested.

I haven’t had a chance to recreate the experience since I moved to Michigan, so I set myself a challenge to find one of the best farms in Michigan for picking berries. True Blue Farms in Grand Junction, Michigan is a little out of the way, but totally worth the drive.
