You’ll Never Forget Your Stay At The Massachusetts Hotel That Used To Be A Prison
The Liberty Hotel in Boston, once the Charles Street Jail, offers a unique and historic stay with preserved original features and dog-friendly amenities.
This hotel once specialized in extended, involuntary stays. The guests were some of the most dangerous and infamous characters around, and the bars kept things extremely exclusive. Sound terrible? Well, prison is no picnic.
The Liberty Hotel in Boston is housed in the former Charles Street Jail, and is one of the most historic and architecturally striking accommodations in the city. Today, you're allowed to check in and out as you please, but the Liberty will definitely hold your imagination captive.
The Liberty Hotel is one prison where you'll definitely want to do time. It was originally built as the Charles Street Jail in 1851.
Thirty huge arched windows, each 33 feet high, were designed to let in natural light to some of the 220 granite cells.

The prisoners’ cells were each 8 by 10 feet. Thankfully, current guests are afforded a bit more space to stretch out.
The jail played host to a motley crew of famous inmates, including Sacco and Vanzetti, Malcolm Z, Michael Curley, World War II prisoners from German submarines, and even suffragists arrested for protesting in the streets.
The prison was converted to its present state in 2007. One of the best parts of visiting here is how much of the original character and history of the building has been preserved.
The room decor is playful and includes plenty of winks to the building's former life.

Perhaps best of all, the hotel is completely dog-friendly.
Spend time in Alibi, one of the hotel's gorgeous bars.
Or maybe the fabulous Clink is more your style? The hotel's restaurant serves much tastier fare than any inmate could hope to enjoy.
You don't have to book a room at the Liberty Hotel to enjoy its restaurant, bars and atmosphere.
Crime may not pay, but a stay at the Liberty will leave you rich in memories.
You can find the Liberty Hotel at 215 Charles St., Boston. Find directions here, and check out their website here for rates and availability.
Did your summer plans include a relaxing trip to the Caribbean? No? Sadly, neither did mine. Fortunately, I have some good news for you! If the beginnings of fall have you dreaming of lounging by the pool and sipping fruity cocktails in the sun, you still have plenty of time to book a tropical getaway. And if you live in Massachusetts or the surrounding area, you don't even need to book a flight to get here. You can enjoy frozen margaritas and cheeseburgers in paradise in Hyannis all year long at the brand-new Margaritaville Resort Cape Cod!

Margaritaville Resort Cape Cod is set to open in early October of this year. The brand-new hotel is the first Margaritaville resort in New England, one of many establishments in the worldwide enterprise inspired by the late singer and entrepreneur, Jimmy Buffett.
The resort will take over the popular Cape Codder Resort and Spa. The current $30 million renovation will bring modern updates to the property while keeping true to the iconic Cape Cod feel.
If you have ever visited a Margaritaville Resort (I may have been to one or two myself), you know they are great places to vacation. The laid-back island atmosphere just screams fun and relaxation.
The new Cape Cod location will be packed with family-friendly attractions, including a tropical indoor water park named Fins Up. Enjoy a beachy vibe year-round as you brave the water slides and take a relaxing ride down the lazy river.
Daily water park passes will also be available to visitors not staying at the resort.
There are several spots within the property for visitors to enjoy a delicious meal or an island cocktail. LandShark Bar & Grill is a great place to grab burgers, tacos, and seafood items.
And a cold LandShark Lager to wash it all down!
For quick bites and yummy cocktails, Salty Rim Bar & Grill is the place to visit.

The resort will also include a poolside snack bar and a coffee shop.
Margaritaville Resort Cape Cod will feature 272 guestrooms. These include standard and deluxe rooms, suites, and upscale residences. The rooms are decorated with island-inspired decor and beachy colors.
For the ultimate Margaritaville experience, guests can reserve the Jimmy Buffett Suite. This premier room is 900 square feet and includes a bedroom, living room, and courtyard access. I don't know about you, but I'm ready to book now!
Have you visited any of the other Margaritaville Resorts? Do you plan on checking out the newest Cape Cod location? More information about the brand-new Margaritaville Resort Cape Cod can be found on their website. If you wish to stay at the property before Margaritaville's official grand opening in October, you can still book a stay at the Cape Codder Resort and Spa. While you are visiting Hyannis, be sure to stop by the lovely Michael K. Aselton Park and catch a performance at the historic Melody Tent Theater.
