1. Pittsfield
The city of Pittsfield may be the latest in Berkshire County, but the holidays transform this spot into something that feels very much like a small town. Glowing homes, large community Christmas trees, and festive shops make Pittsfield a great place to wander on a snowy day.

Head to this seaside town for a cozy Christmas in Essex County. Though Salisbury is a popular summer destination, it really lights up with cheer during the holidays. Stop by the Festival of Trees for an indoor walk through a winter wonderland.

This tiny town of just about 11,000 people in Middesex County is a perfectly pretty place to spend the holidays. With a fresh coating of snow, the Pepperell covered bridge looks absolutely postcard-worthy.

This city just outside Boston may not have those classic New England cobbled streets, but the residents here go all-out when it comes to Christmas fun. A drive through Somerville will practically blind you with dazzling Christmas lights and glowing holiday decor.
5. Attleboro
This city in Bristol County was once known as The Jewelry Capital of the World," but now it sparkles for another reason. Attleboro is home to La Salette Shrine, which puts on an absolutely spectacular holiday light display all through December. This display definitely has religious vibes, so it’s a great place to go if you want a more faith-based holiday celebration.
6. Provincetown
This beachy town might not immediately pop to mind when you think of great holiday destinations, but Provincetown is actually a very lively spot during the Christmas season. Don’t miss the nautical holiday decor along Commercial Street or the lobster trap Christmas tree.
7. Taunton
Can things get more festive than a town literally nicknamed "The Christmas City?" Taunton is known for putting on a spectacular holiday light display in its town green, and the entire town transforms with decorations around the holidays.
8. Nantucket
If you can make it out to this little island during December, you'll be rewarded with classic Christmas decor and a very festive downtown. Expect plenty of lights, Christmas music playing in the shops, and a quaint New England atmosphere.

Head to this Cape Cod community for festive strolling and plenty of seafood. If you drive down to Chatham Light Beach, you'll be treated to the site of the town's giant wreath and glowing lighthouse station.
10. Lenox
Lenox is a stunning town filled with historic architecture and old-fashioned New England Christmas appeal. If you're looking for the ultimate holiday escape, book a night or two at Blantyre, Lenox's luxurious period hotel. The decorations here look like something from Downton Abbey.
