There are plenty of historic state parks in the Bay State, but some feature relics of the past that you won't find elsewhere. Borderlands State Park in Easton and Sharon holds a historic mansion that was built back in 1910 and is still gorgeous today. Ames Mansion is a historic building that's even been featured in many major motion pictures. Next time you're looking to explore a beautiful state park with over 1,800 acres of trails, woods, and more, visit Borderland State Park and check out Ames Mansion while you're there.
While Borderland State Park in Sharon is a gorgeous natural oasis, it's also the home of the historic Ames Mansion.
This 1,843 acre state park is situated in both Easton and Sharon, and is a hidden gem for Bay Staters to explore trails, woodlands, and even beautiful ponds.
No matter what time of year you visit, it's sure to be a breathtaking experience. A big part of that is because this park surrounds the historic Ames Mansion.
Surrounded by natural beauty, Ames Mansion was completed in 1910 and has been preserved to this day.
Oak Ames was a botanist, and his wife Blanche Ames was a feminist artist. Together they built the property along with the nature preserve around it. Much of the ponds are man-made.
Most of the interior was designed by Blanche, and many of her paintings remain at the mansion.
Ames Mansion is so incredible that it's even been used as the setting for commercials, shows, and movies such as Shutter Island, Ghostbusters, and Knives Out.
