There’s nothing like a beautiful view to go along with an excellent meal. These three restaurants on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland happen to offer both stunning waterfront views and creative seafood menus. Each has its own unique atmosphere and style, and each is worth a visit next time you’re looking for delicious Maryland dining right on the water.
1. Bridges Restaurant, Grasonville
Bright, airy, and with cheerful décor, Bridges Restaurant in Grasonville welcomes guests for indoor and outdoor dining right on the water. You can even dock your boat at the private dock, with 16 complimentary slips for restaurant diners.
The menu is primarily seafood, and much of it is local. But if you’re not a seafood fan, no worries - Bridges also serves pizza, burgers, salads, and more. You can dine in, or take your food to go, if you’d like.
But who would want to miss out on that view? Learn more at the Bridges Restaurant website, or visit its Facebook page.
2. Dock of the Bay, Sparrows Point
Boasting "the best view of the Chesapeake Bay," Dock of the Bay is a rustic, charming restaurant with a long history. The indoor dining area has a welcoming, laidback feel, and on a nice day you can sit outside on the deck and enjoy the bayside atmosphere.
The menu features fresh and creative options, like the crab quesadilla, and each month there are new specials to try. For a taste of the restaurant’s best seafood, try the Boone Seafood Sampler. Dock of the Bay is also one of the more family friendly options in the area, with a special kids’ menu, and even a small playground outside for kids to enjoy.
And yes, it does have a wonderful view, including a lighthouse. For more information, visit Dock of the Bay’s website or check out its Facebook page.
3. Schaefer's Canal House, Chesapeake City
Located in Chesapeake City and technically on the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal, Schaefer’s Canal House is a popular dining option in the upper Chesapeake Bay area. It offers beautiful views of the canal and Chesapeake City Bridge, with a menu to match.
The menu includes all sorts of seafood options, ranging from surf & turf (filet mignon served with lobster tail or crab cake) to breaded oysters to crab ravioli and more. Schaefer’s also serves up a variety of burgers, tacos, salads, and sandwiches.
Grab a window seat inside, or sit out on the deck and enjoy watching various ships and watercrafts go by as you listen to the water lap against the dock. For more information, visit the Schaefer’s Canal House website or Facebook page.
