Maryland is home to some of the region's most underrated hiking destinations. That's especially true when you explore some of our regional parks, which tend to fly under the radar when compared to the state's more well-known state parks and national parks. Today's destination takes us to Black Hill Regional Park, where we'll enjoy a nice long walk along the Black Hill Trail Loop. Complete with water views and wildlife, this trail promises something for every outdoor enthusiast.
Located in Montgomery County, Maryland, you'll discover an enchanting regional park that tends to fly under the radar.
Black Hill Regional Park consists of 1,300 beautiful acres surrounding the picturesque Little Seneca Lake.
There are many ways to enjoy this park year-round, but the most popular is, of course, hiking. The park includes nearly 20 miles of hard and natural surface trails, which are shared by hikers, bikers, and horseback riders.
If it's your first visit to the park, we'd recommend the namesake Black Hill Trail Loop.
This 2.8-mile trail is considered to be relatively easy for all ages and takes a little over an hour to complete on average.
The majority of this trail is stroller and wheelchair-friendly. There are some non-paved portions.
One of the best parts about this loop is the views of the water you'll get to enjoy along the way.
In fact, it's such a lovely trail, that you might just be tempted to go around a second time!
