There are many beloved small-town parks in Maryland, but perhaps none so charming and historic as Glen Echo Park.
The park was initially developed in 1891 in the small town of Glen Echo as a National Chautauqua Assembly, a well-known cultural and social movement of the time. It later was transformed into an iconic amusement park before it closed in 1968.
In 1971, the National Park Service purchased the park to be re-appropriated into a renowned artistic and cultural hub in Maryland.
By far, one of the park's greatest attractions is the rustic and rustic Dentzel Carousel. Originally built for the park in 1921 (over 100 years ago), it has since been painstakingly restored to its current charm and allure.
Another local favorite gathering at Glen Echo Park is the Annual Labor Day Art Show, which accepts submissions from artists of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels.
