Maryland is consistently ranked as one of the most educated states in the entire nation. There are amazing schools all over the state, with the following 10 counties topping the list in 2017. According to Niche.com, these counties rank best when it comes to public schools and parent reviews.
1. Howard County
Public schools here rank an A+ and there are many things for children outside of school as well. With Howard County being centrally located, it's close to cities, small towns, and has a diverse population.
2. Montgomery County
Public schools here also rank at an A+, but this county can be a bit more pricey than Howard County. A vast amount of area attractions are sure to keep children busy.
3. Frederick County
Frederick county also received an A+ when it comes to public schools, and the price tag on homes is a bit lower. This is a family-friendly county with both man-made attractions as well as plenty of green spaces to run around.
4. Worcester County
Turns out, being near the beach is beneficial in more ways than one. Worcester County received an A+ from Niche.com as well, and this underrated county is a great place to raise a family.
5. Carroll County
Another A+ on the list, this time for Carroll County. This area is filled with charming small towns and plenty of outdoor adventures for the whole family.
6. Harford County
Harford County makes the cut with an A+ ranking. This county has a diverse amount of attractions, whether you prefer waterside spots for fishing or scenic state parks for hiking.
7. Calvert County
Calvert County falls to an A ranking on the Niche.com list, which is still incredibly impressive. This bay-side county has plenty of scenery, making for one beautiful place to live and learn.
8. Anne Arundel County
Public schools here received an A ranking. Anne Arundel County has a little bit of everything, and is conveniently located near water-side spots, cities, and state parks.
9. Queen Anne's County
Next we move from Anne Arundel County to across the bay in Queen Anne's County. This area received an A- ranking from Niche.com. It may be a more rural location, but this spot knows good schooling.
10. St. Mary's County
Last but not least on our list is St. Mary's County, which received an A- for public schools. This southern county is filled with plenty of close-knit small towns that are great for raising children.
