Maryland is full of re-purposed buildings. In fact, we even have an train station turned restaurant. Today, we're featuring an old cotton mill that is now a one-of-a-kind shopping mall. The following spot is full of history and although it's no longer used as a mill, its current purpose is even better. Next time you're seeking a unique rainy day adventure, head to Historic Savage Mill.

Historic Savage Mill is located in Savage, Maryland.

Although this town is small, it's full of history. It's even home to the Bollman Truss Railroad Bridge, which is one of the oldest iron railroad bridges in the US. It's conveniently located right next to the mill.

After some outdoor exploring, head over to this cotton mill turned shopping mall. Parts of it date back to the 1800s.

Step right in, where you'll immediately be greeted with two floors of unique shops.

Walk along the top, taking in the rustic views below while visiting stores...

...and then make your way to the bottom floor, where more treasures await. Whimsical furniture shops, antique stores, a book store, and more await.

Historic Savage Mill is massive, with more connected buildings as you explore. There's over 175,000 square feet of space here!

If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can also enjoy aerial activities at Terrapin adventures, which is hidden behind the mill. It's a great way to burn off some energy -- especially for children.

All that shopping and climbing is sure to make you hungry. Finish up your day with a visit to Rams Tavern. Grab a bite to eat in the cozy dining area upstairs...

...or relax in the downtstairs bar with a drink.
