Our great state of Maryland is well-known for its extensive list of spooky sites, which are scattered throughout the state. But while a ghost tour in the dimly lit streets of a perfect fall town is nice, there’s nothing that quite puts me in the Halloween spirit like a trip to a unique and creative haunted house. And if, like me, you’re a fan of both haunted houses and escape rooms, then you’re most certainly going to want to check out Laurel’s House of Horror. This haunted house in Laurel, Maryland has been running seasonally since 2014, and they put on a whole variety of scare shows and offer attractions that are sure to leave their mark!
Laurel’s House of Horrors is located in the former Laurel 6 movie theater, and it takes full advantage of its history. Projectors throughout the attraction work to enhance the experience of wandering the haunted hallways.
At 28,000 square feet, this is the largest indoor horror attraction in the entire region. There are multiple exciting styles of spookiness to take advantage of when you visit.
The classic haunted house is one such attraction offered by Laurel’s House of Horrors. This is the very definition of a family-run business - when they started in 2014, the owner’s father played the guy who chases you with a chainsaw. They currently boast an entire team of talented scare actors lurking in the shadows of the house!
A unique option offered by the House of Horrors is their themed escape rooms. These are aptly named “Escape The Movies”, and are inspired by popular films such as Stephen King’s It, and by popular TV shows like American Horror Story. They’re available for up to 8 players, and the puzzles vary in difficulty based on the theme you choose!
You could also choose to embark on a real paranormal investigation after-hours - if you dare! You’ll get a full tour through the abandoned movie theater with a team of psychic researchers, who’ll employ their full arsenal of equipment to try to lure the spirits out of hiding.
Laurel’s House of Horrors is open through the first weekend of November. There are only a few dates left in the season, so be sure to book your tickets for any or all of the three incredible attractions now!
Visit Laurel’s House of Horrors on Facebook for updates on the weekly events and discounts they offer, and make sure to head to Laurel's House of Horrors online to grab your tickets before the season is up!
