We've told you about Maine's hidden swimming holes before, and they're great! But, the Kezar Falls Gorge in Maine is truly something special. It's located off a dirt road in a place you really have to be searching for in order to find. The best part? Since this is one of the most secluded waterfalls in Maine, you are likely to have it all to yourself. Unless you bring a friend, of course!
To find Kezar Falls Gorge in Maine, you'll first want to head to Waterford in Oxford County.
We like to use Melby's Eatery as a starting point. So, make your way there. The address is Melby's Market & Eatery, 927 Valley Rd, Waterford.
From Melby's turn off onto 5 Kezars Road, which will quickly turn into a dirt road.
After about 10 minutes you'll come to a small area for parking on the right. You'll likely be the only car here and you'll have to keep your eyes open to find it.
Once you've parked, grab your towel and a good pair of shoes for the journey down to the falls!
This is one of our favorite hidden waterfalls you can swim in, and one of the least visited waterfall swimming holes in Maine, so you might just have the place all to yourself!
Things here are a bit rough, though it's not for very long.
Trust us, your efforts will be rewarded.
Once you've walked for about 2 minutes you'll be able to gaze down into the swimming hole.
The area feels like something out of Ferngully!
Continue heading down to the bank of the water.
Take a moment to familiarize yourself with your surroundings.
And admire the beauty of one of the most special waterfall gorge swimming holes in Maine.
Once there, you'll find it rocky so be careful!
Even on sunny days, this area is almost totally shady due to the high slabs of rock completely surrounding you.
Once in the water, you can swim in the main area or go further into the area where the small falls are located.
Everything here is completely hidden so even people walking along can easily miss that there's an entire swimming hole below!
Make sure to bring snacks so you can spend the day!
