One of the best things about a flea market is that you don't need a single reason in the world to visit one. Nobody ever realizes they need something, puts it on a list, and heads to a flea market in Maine to get it. Instead, these places are perfect for browsing around and finding things you just can't live without. With that in mind, the bigger the better! The Southern Maine Flea Market in Scarborough is huge and so much fun to visit!
This fun store in Scarborough offers a one-stop shop for just about everything you didn't know you needed.
The building is an unassuming, one-story structure that you might simply pass by if you didn't know what was inside.
So, what's inside? A little bit of everything!
There are over 100 local vendors selling a mix of things they've collected over the years. Additionally, quite a few vendors offer things they're passionate about. These items have been carefully curated and it shows.
Like many flea markets, this one has a good mix of everything. In some cases, searching through the inventory feels like being at the perfect garage sale.
Many vendors focus on just one category. You can find some that carry just figurines and memorabilia, for example.
Other vendors focus on things like new and vintage toys.
While we advocate for visiting when you don't need anything in particular, this is also a great place to visit for things like seasonal decor. As the holidays approach, stop in to see what you can find to punch up your home a bit.
And all that shopping will probably leave you hungry, which is why we love Tina's Lunch for a snack.
Stop in to browse the next time you're in the area. There's a good chance you'll find something you need and if you don't, you'll definitely find something you want!
The market opens at varying times throughout the week. While they don't have a website, you can certainly learn more about them and see frequently updated photos of vendors on Facebook. Of course, they can also be reached via phone at 207-229-4263.
This fun spot is indoors, which allows it to be open all year. But if you prefer a good outdoor market there are certainly plenty of those throughout the state. A fun option for heading outside is located in Montsweag.
