Lazy river tubing in Maine is high on the list of outdoor plans for when the weather is nice. Combine that with camping and you'll have a perfect weekend. But in a place like Maine, you’ve got to plan ahead, most especially for places like Bullfrog Adventures. Try to reserve your spot as early as possible. And get ready for some wonderful camping in a riverside location where you can take one of the best float trips in Maine down the Kennebec River. Here is one of the most incredible campgrounds with river tubing you'll want to spend some time at:
You’ll find Bullfrog Adventures right next to the Kennebec River in Caratunk.
As Maine's first river tubing outfitter, they’ve been perfecting the art of river trips, tubing in Maine, and camping since the 90s.
Bullfrog Adventures runs a variety of different river-related trips, from tubing to kayaking. And the best part? You can camp right here making it the perfect Maine summer getaway.
There are eight camping spots available at this campground with a lazy river.
Combine one of the best floats in Maine with an awesome camping experience.
While they offer a few different tubing options, we love the self-guided trip that will take you floating down the beautiful Kennebec River at your own pace.
There's also a rope swing here that goes right into the Kennebec River.
Each tube rental comes with a custom tube, life jacket, and van ride to and from the river.
Your tubing in Maine adventure starts with a quick van trip to the put-in point in The Forks, where you’ll have access to eight wonderful miles of river as you head down toward the Appalachian Trail crossing in Caratunk.
It's easy to see that this is one of the best float trips in Maine.
Bullfrog Adventures also offers the use of their custom-designed tubes. Something you won’t find anywhere else.
You’ll feel like an intrepid explorer as you watch the trees pass by, but with a shallow depth and only occasional class 1 rapids, this trip is decidedly casual.
The route takes between 2.5 and 3 hours, depending on the flow of the river, but we’ve found that it’s most fun with some breaks along the way at the banks of the water.
These breaks are even more fun when you consider that you can also rent a cooler full of ice to bring your own snacks and beverages to enjoy on the Kennebec River.
For more information on one of my favorite campgrounds with river tubing, check out the Bullfrog Adventures website. That's where you'll find the most up-to-date information. You can also keep up with new offerings and see more photos by following Bullfrog Adventures on Facebook. If you're not local to the area, a great way to make this adventure even more fun is by turning this into a road trip. But, don't forget the road trip snacks before you hit the road.
