Part of the fun is getting there. While traveling down Cottage Street in downtown Bar Harbor you may see the sign welcoming you to Route 66 Restaurant.
Route 66 Restaurant is set back from the other buildings in a small ally. Painted on the ground is a road leading to an old classic taxi cab busting out of the wall above the door. The sight is eye-catching for sure and gives you a taste of what's to come.
Once you step inside you are immersed in a whirlwind of 1950s culture. Everywhere you look features nostalgia and Americana at its finest.
Old car bumpers, license plates, a vintage gas pump, and neon signs are just some of the historical items you will find there.
Once seated you will have plenty of eye candy to look at in any direction you choose.
To really get an immersive experience they even have a 1954 Seeburg Juke Box pumping out classic music from the 50s through old drive-in movie speakers positioned at a couple of booths.
Now you cannot visit Maine and not dive into one of our most delicious meals, can you? It’s Bar Harbor after all so they will have lobster.
Even if you have had lobster in other states you will want to have Maine lobster. What makes them even better? The lobsters are caught locally in Frenchman’s Bay.
