When you need comfort food, there's nothing like a homemade pie. Whether you love fruit pies or prefer cream or meringue, pie is the perfect dessert, but a savory pie stuffed with lobster makes a great dinner, too. There's a pretty famous little diner in the southeastern corner of Maine that's known not only for its delicious dessert pies but for its lobster pie as well.
Maine Diner is tucked away in the southeastern corner of the state. You'll find it at 2265 Post Rd., Wells, ME 04090.
This popular diner is always hopping, with both locals and tourists. It's been a favorite for a long time, but when it appeared on the TV show Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives a few years ago, everyone got the word that it was the go-to place for comfort food and all kinds of pie.
One of the most popular menu items is the lobster pie. Stuffed with tender lobster, then topped with a crumb crust, this pie just melts in your mouth.
Why not have pie for dinner and dessert? The dessert pies here are divine.
The homemade blueberry pie has a flaky crust and is stuffed with tons of tart blueberries. Get it with a side of vanilla ice cream, or try the Maine blueberry ice cream with chocolate chunks.
If you're craving something extra-sweet, one of the cream pies will hit the spot. They definitely don't skimp on the whipped cream on these pies!
The Whoopie Pies are pretty tasty, too! OK, it's not technically a pie, but we just can't pass these up.
Other delicious items on the menu include lobster mac n cheese...
...lobster roll...
...and lobster stew. You can't go wrong with any of the comfort food here.
Visit Maine Diner every day from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visit the diner's gift shop, Remember The Maine right next door to find Maine Diner apparel, collectibles, mugs, and more.
