Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. Why I Love It: Fact: Airplanes are notoriously dry, dry, dry. No matter how much water I drink both before and during the flight, I always find myself in a hydration deficit for days. Bullfrog Adventures runs a variety of different river-related trips, from tubing to kayaking. And the best part? You can camp right here making it the perfect Maine summer getaway.
While they offer a few different tubing options, we love the self-guided trip that will take you floating down the beautiful Kennebec River at your own pace.
Your tubing in Maine adventure starts with a quick van trip to the put-in point in The Forks, where you’ll have access to eight wonderful miles of river as you head down toward the Appalachian Trail crossing in Caratunk.
You’ll feel like an intrepid explorer as you watch the trees pass by, but with a shallow depth and only occasional class 1 rapids, this trip is decidedly casual.
The route takes between 2.5 and 3 hours, depending on the flow of the river, but we’ve found that it’s most fun with some breaks along the way at the banks of the water.
These breaks are even more fun when you consider that you can also rent a cooler full of ice to bring your own snacks and beverages to enjoy on the Kennebec River.
