Louisiana is full of delicious restaurants that have won amazing awards--especially for their seafood. But there aren't that many restaurants that have all of those accolades AND are found in extremely unique buildings. This small town Louisiana restaurant, the Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant, has it all. Let's explore.
You'll find the Steamboat Warehouse restaurant in Washington, LA which is north of Opelousas on Bayou Courtableau.
The address is 525 N Main St., and there is a beautiful deck as part of the restaurant right on the water.
This building was originally built in 1819 to house steamboats as they were built or came along the river.
There is some amazing beauty inside of this place as well as outside, and it was lovingly restored in 1977.
The interior is very warm and cozy, with lots of the historical details still exposed.
Being in this building will make you feel like you've traveled back in time.
But of course, like all amazing restaurants in Louisiana, the food is the most important part.
This redfish with a seafood cream sauce is a favorite that I love.
And the seafood stuffed bell pepper, pictured here, has won awards year after year!
The food really takes center stage once your meal begins---and you won't want it to end.
But of course...if you get some tables like this, the interior might take your attention away.
The interior decor is reminiscent of the beautiful architecture that was popular during the steamboat era and will really astound you.
So go ahead and gather the family for an amazing meal and day.
We think you're going to have one of the most amazing meals of your life!
