You’ll find Mel’s over in Broussard, Louisiana.
The original location in Lafayette opened in 1992 and it didn’t take long before they expanded to open the Broussard location in 1997. The original Lafayette location was damaged in a fire in 2020 and as of February 2022, they are still closed but have been remodeling and have plans to reopen soon.
The inside will transport you back to the 50's.
Bright, cheerful, and welcoming, it's hard not to feel like one of the family here.
The menu is pretty extensive.
And this time, we mean it.
There are over 80 items on the menu.
They also have old-school blue plate specials every day of the week.
Mondays, of course, are reserved for red beans and rice, just the way it should be.
From beastly burgers to chicken fried steak, they do it all.
Seriously. You can even get nachos here, and boy do they look good.
Almost too pretty to eat!
Did we mention they also serve breakfast 24 hours a day?
But the real star of the show here are the biscuits. They're known for having the best biscuits around!
Get yours plain or smother them in gravy for a traditional Southern meal. You may even want to get a few to go so you can snack on them on the drive home. We wouldn't blame you, they're that good!
