There are some things everyone thinks of when you think of the Crescent City. For better or worse, we’re known for a lot of things. Here are 8 things that everyone thinks of when they think of New Orleans.
1. The French Quarter
Probably the number one thing that comes to mind when you think of New Orleans. Everyone who visits this city walks around the quarter to see the architecture, the bars, and the restaurants… just not necessarily in that order.
2. Bourbon Street
Still part of the French Quarter, but easily our most famous street and the one everyone wants to walk down when they visit.
3. Streetcars
Fun Fact: the St. Charles line is the oldest continually operated streetcar in the world. It has been in operation since 1835 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
4. Katrina
We will always be known for this natural disaster.
5. The Saints
And we’ll always remind everyone that we had that one good year where we won the Super Bowl.
6. The Food
Gumbo, jambalaya, po’boys, beignets… We are known for our food and it’s all delicious.
7. Mardi Gras
I’d say when you think of Mardi Gras the first two things that pop into your head are Bourbon Street and Mardi Gras.
8. The Festivals
New Orleans knows how to put on a festival. From Jazz Fest to the Fried Chicken Festival, we’re always looking for a reason to have some fun.
9. Music
Some of the best musicians got their start right here in New Orleans, and as you walk down the streets you’re bound to hear a brass band jamming in the street.
