New Orleans is known for many things, and oysters is one of them. Every spring the New Orleans Oyster Festival descends on Woldenberg Park for a full weekend of music, crafts, and all the oysters you can eat. If you’re a fan of oysters, you certainly don’t want to miss this summer festival in New Orleans.
The New Orleans Oyster Festival takes place between spring and summer every year, and you don’t want to miss it.
The festival, which debuted in 2010, aims to celebrate local restaurants and oyster farmers while helping to raise funds for coastal restoration. Every year the festival donates a portion of its proceeds to an organization that’s dedicated to saving our coast.
This free festival is an oyster lover’s paradise. All of the finest seafood restaurants in the city come out and feature their favorite oyster dish.
From oyster po’boys…

The two-day festival is chock full of live music (like any good New Orleans festival should be).
There will also be an arts and crafts section where you can check out some incredibly unique (and oyster themed) art from talented local artists.
Don’t forget to check out the contests. There will be an oyster shucking contest to see who can shuck oysters the quickest.
And an oyster eating competition. The champion in 2018 ate 33 dozen Louisiana oysters. Think you could top that?
