When the weather is cooperating, there's nothing better than spending your days outdoors. If you're looking for a new trail to tackle, we've got just the spot. The Audubon Louisiana Nature Center is ideal for families with little ones that need to expel some energy, but it's also a perfect spot for a solo stroll surrounded by endless greenery. Let's check it out.
Located in New Orleans East, the Audubon Louisiana Nature Center features 86 acres of beautiful hardwood bottomland forest to enjoy.
Originally open in 1980, the park sustained major damage during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Since then, the park has undergone major renovations and improvements. One of the major improvements is the interpretive center and the planetarium, where you’ll learn all about Louisiana’s native plants, animals, and ecosystems.
There are multiple trails that will lead you around the park's beautiful scenery.
The walking trails are open four days a week. The main boardwalk and the adventure trail are open Monday - Thursday from 9 a.m. till 12 p.m. The Discovery Trail and Pollinator Path are open Monday - Thursday from 9 a.m. till 1:30 p.m.
All of the trails are under 1.5 miles long, so you can mix and match depending on your schedule.
Just be sure to stay on the trail and leave only footprints!
Interpretive signs along the way make this a great, educational opportunity the whole family can enjoy.
Who knows, you might learn something new during your visit!
The views along the trails are simply stunning.
From the crawfish pond to the colorful wildflowers, everywhere you look is just picture-perfect.
