1. Lake Claiborne
This reservoir near the town of Homer, Louisiana is home to a popular state park that offers plenty of opportunities to fish and boat. There's also a disc golf course at the park.
2. Lake Arthur
This lake in Jefferson Davis Parish is near Lake Arthur, a town possessing an extensive and interesting history. The beautiful lake is known for its abundant wildlife, which made it a popular early campground for the Attakapas Native American tribe.
3. Prien Lake
A large variety of wildlife make this area their home, which is known for amazing fishing. At this beautiful lake you'll find an abundance of fish like croaker, redfish, flounder, and black drum.
4. Caddo Lake
This lake and wetland form the border between Louisiana and Texas, one of several gorgeous lakes in the state, is the second largest in the south. A large environmental preservation effort still remains to keep this area pristine and gorgeous for human and wildlife use.
5. Kepler Lake
This reservoir in Northwest Louisiana is an lake that is available for fishing and boating. Although not the largest Louisiana lake, around its shores you will find a charming, close-knit community, as many people have beautiful camp houses here.
6. Lake Bistineau
This lake also has a Louisiana state park attached to it, and is one of the most gorgeous in Louisiana. This waterway was formed in the early 19th century because of a log jam on the Red River that resulted in flooding. The lake is available for a range of activities, and there are two swimming pools on the grounds of the state park.
7. Vernon Lake
This 4,200 acre reservoir has a variety of depths and offers opportunities for recreational boaters and fishers. The lake offers quality bass fishing and there are cabins at nearby South Toledo Bend State Park for campers. there is a haunted trail here as well.
8. Calcasieu Lake
This brackish lake is found in Cameron Parish, in Southwest Louisiana. Some locals call this lake "Big Lake," and is well known among anglers because of its abundant redfish, flounder, and shrimp. This is also where the unique pink dolphin has been found!
9. Lake Martin
This gorgeous lake outside of Lafayette offers an amazing wildlife preserve and is home to hundreds of species of birds and many other kinds of amazing wildlife. It also features a lakeside trail.
10. Lake Caroline
This lake, which is part of the Red River National Wildlife Refuge, located off the Red River basin in Northwest Louisiana offers a variety of fishing and boating opportunities. Beware tht sometimes when there is severe flooding in the area, the lake may be closed.
11. Lake Pontchartrain
Lake Pontchartrain separates New Orleans from the Northshore communities of Mandeville and Covington and offers incredible sunsets, swimming in some areas, and, of course, awesome boating and fishing.
12. Black Lake
This somewhat hidden reservoir located between Campti and Creston in North Louisiana offers amazing recreational opportunities and a peaceful, serene setting that are sure to bring a smile to your face.
